White Rabbit's Base Mage Guide

This guide will get you through roughly your first 50 levels and establish a good base from which you can take many diffrent directions for a Pure Mage.

  • Create character with 14 MAG, 14 INT and 12 STR. DEX is not needed at lower levels as a mage but later on may be needed if you wish to use shield. STR is waste of points at low level too because of low DEX you will not hit enough in close combat to inflict much damage. Down the road when you get alittle bigger you will need some STR, otherwise you will not be able to wear wizard's hood or wizard's hat in future... Also keep in mind every point you put into any atribute is a point you are not going to be able to use elsewhere, so spend them wisely.

  • Go ahead and pick all the other stuff (hair style, skin color, ect) you want to as it really does not matter much other than looks (keep in mind Male items are usally abit more expensive than Female items when trading with others).

  • So now you have created your Mage and you are in the beginer zone, the left portal leads to the Aresden farm, right leads to the Elvine farm. When you put mouse over the white dot on the minimap (upper left corner by default) you will be able to read what is at that location. This will help you to find barracks, blacksmith, wizard tower and many other places. To turn on minimap use Ctrl+M.

  • Go to barracks (found on farm) with dagger (preferably an dagger with added hitting probility) and hit dummies on the first floor and kill them. When you level put your points into INT and get it up untill you will get 18 INT (enough for Magic Missle).

TIP: Stay a travler untill level 19, this will keep you from haveing to repair your weapons. I should also mention here that if you plain on useing a shield on your mage (very effective) this is absolutly the best time to train. Once you pass level 19 you will have to repair your shield, but by training shield % before you hit lvl 19 you can use the same shield to get all the way to 100% without haveing to repair one shield. Be sure to have 50 DEX if you wish to train shield at this time. If not you will not get all the way to 100%.*(You need 50 DEX to gain 100% shield)If you do deside to go the shield route, get your dex right off the bat so you can train it at low levle's, this little trick also works on weapons (ie. Short sword and staff skill) ;)

  • Now visit The Mages Tower (in town) and buy magic missile spell (it costs 100 Gold) You will need this spell for training magic % (Magic % will give you a better probility of casting spells ans well as make your spells hit more often).

  • At this point it is quicker to use your dagger (or small weapon of choice being that you have low STR) to continue to level, but if you use your magic missle you will gain magic %. Your Magic % should already be at 20%, you can higher your casting probility by useing a CP wand (Ask around and someone should be able to part with a lower level CP wand for free, But don't be greedy or annoying when you ask as it will most likely get you killed)

  • At this point you should be putting your points into Magic. The more Magic you have the more damage you will do. Also Magic controls how fast your Mana will regen (very important for a mage). I would suggest getting your magic to atleast 50 (this will allow you to train your magic to 100% and also give you decent mana regens)

  • Once you hit level 19 you will get a message saying you can not level anymore untill you become a citizen. At this point you will need to decide if you want to be an Aresden or Elvine. I would suggest walking around in both towns and seeing which one you like the layout of better. Also ask around and see which town members you like better. Some people simply like red (aresden) more than they like Blue (Elvine). Keep in mind that generaly Higher players do not like to talk to newer players, this is nothing personal and it has been this way since the begining of time. Some players will however help you out in deciding and leveling, but don't pester people as this will surly get you killed.

  • Once you have decided which town you want to join make your way to that towns City Hall and talk to the gentelman inside about joining that town.

  • After you have joined the town of your choice its back to the barracks with you! I would suggest staying in the barracks untill you are kicked out at level 51. it is by far the best place for lower level players to gain their first few levels.

  • Once you get your magic to about 50 or so you are ready to start putting some points into INT. INT allowes you to buy bigger and better spells to do more damage along with other effects. (see Magecraft For a list of spells and how much INT they requier) If you feel you are ready for a more powerful spell then move up to Energy Bolt (24 INT). This spell does roughly the same damage as Magic Missle (5-15 points), but will attack a 3x3 area insted of a 1x1 area (this is known as a AOE or Area of Effect spell and is a great spell to use in the basment of the barracks where the Dummies will follow you). You gain experence roughly 3x as fast being that you will are hitting 3x as many targets with each casting.

HINT: When fighting more than one monster, keep moveing after each casting leading the group on. if you stop or work your way into a corner you will be surounded and most likely die

  • Idealy you want to get your INT up to 67. This is enough to by Engery Strike (a spell no mage should ever be without). Keep in mind that engery strike does take alot of mana so you will also want to get your magic up. I would suggest by the time you get out of the Barracks you have 67 INT, and around 80 Magic. Something to keep in mind at this stage is that if you want your mage to use a shield the barracks is the best place to learn. this is the only place in the game where all the monsters on the map can hit you for a max of -1 damage, meaining you will have a much better chance of liveing.

You will need to decied what path you are going to take with your mage. Other guides still in progress...
