Alchemy

Alchemy is one of the five item creation skills, which cannot be increased in the Helbreath USA cash shop. Using this skill a player can create drinkable potions including several that are not obtainable by other means. The ingredients for brewing potions are mostly monster parts. As the alchemy skill increases, additional potions become available to the player. Alchemy is a relatively long skill to train; some players chose to stop at 50% when brewing Invisibility Potions becomes possible, while others pursue their training to gain access to higher recipes such as the Sex Change Potion at 95%.

Using Alchemy

To learn the alchemy skill a player must use an Alchemy Manual, found for sale at the shop. Learning the manual sets the player's alchemy skill to 20%. An Alchemy Bowl, also purchased at the shop, is needed to brew potions. Double-clicking the bowl opens a round window. The player must place all the ingredients required for the desired potion into the bowl window, without placing any superfluous ones. Only one potion can be made at a time. To place ingredients into the bowl window, the player can do one of the following:

  • Double-click a single item in the bag.
  • Drag a single item from the bag to the bowl window.
  • Double-click a stack of items - this places one item from the stack into the bowl window.

A stack of items should not be directly dragged into the bowl window, even in the case where a recipe requires multiple copies of an ingredient. A list of the recipes and their ingredients is found in the table below. The ingredients can be placed in the bowl in any order. Then, clicking the Try Now! button attempts to brew the potion. If the recipe is followed correctly, the brewing may be successful, in which case the ingredients disappear and the potion will be placed in the bag or dropped on the ground if the bag is full. A bit of Exp is also awarded. However, making a potion always has the possibility of failing, although no ingredients are lost in that case. The success chance for a potion depends on the skill % and the potion's difficulty, which is found in the table below.

success chance (%) = skill - difficulty

Training Alchemy

Every potion created contributes to the advancement of the alchemy skill. The number of potions to reach the next % follows the skill raising formula found here. A player's Int must be above 10 to allow the alchemy skill to progress. The maximum attainable % is the double of the Int score, up to 100% (50 Int).

  • 1,095 potions must be made to increase the alchemy skill from 20% to 50%.
  • 30,665 potions must be made to increase the alchemy skill from 20% to 100%.

When training alchemy, it is recommended to keep all the monster parts one finds, for later use. However, the simplest approach is to focus on making Health Potions and Mana Potions, since their ingredients are the easiest to acquire in large amounts, when compared to other recipes.
